Baku. TurkicWorld:
The World Bank (WB) has supported the implementation of 116 priority projects in Tajikistan over 31 years of bilateral cooperation, totaling $2.9 billion, TurkicWorld reports.
This was announced during a meeting between Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of the World Bank for Operations, in New York. The projects span various sectors, including social services, transportation, energy, and agriculture.
Rahmon highlighted the WB as one of Tajikistan's key development partners and discussed strategies for mobilizing resources to further national economic development and social objectives. The sides discussed hydropower, industrial development, access to green energy, and the promotion of a green economy.
The president expressed his gratitude for the bank's leadership and practical initiatives, particularly regarding the financing of the Rogun hydropower plant's completion.
He noted that Tajikistan boasts rich natural resources, especially in renewable energy and agriculture, and emphasized the need for increased international financial and technical support to maximize this potential.
On September 22, Rahmon left for New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
