A Project Office for coordinating the construction of the Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan railway line opens in Tashkent

Uza.uz The Project Office for coordinating the construction of Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan railway line has been officially opened in Tashkent.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the opening ceremony was attended by Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev, Minister of Transport Ilkhom Mahkamov, Advisor to the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Abdulla Khashimov, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Railways JSC Akmal Kamalov, Ambassadors of Pakistan and Afghanistan, head of the Afghan Railway Administration Bakht-ur-Rehman Sharafat.

The Project Office aims to coordinate joint measures to develop a feasibility study and accelerate the practical implementation of the project. All participants noted that the timely opening of the Project Office would transform the parties’ actions to expedite the practical implementation of the project from regular to permanent.

Regular tripartite negotiations were held on further promotion of the construction project of Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan railway line, where the parties discussed issues related to accelerating the implementation of the project.
