TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 19. Uzbekistan and Russia discussed coordinated measures for developing efficient transport corridors in Central Asia, TurkicWorld reports.
The discussion was held during a meeting between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a Russian delegation that included Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev, Presidential Advisor Igor Levitin, and Chairman of Russian Railways Oleg Belozyorov.
The delegation members conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Mirziyoyev.
Next, the parties reviewed the practical implementation of agreements reached during high-level meetings in Tashkent on May 26-28 of this year.
The participants highlighted the importance of accelerating industrial cooperation projects in transportation, further expanding partnerships in automobile, rail, and air transport, as well as in training highly qualified engineering personnel.
To note, the foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia from January to July 2024 amounted to $6.8 billion, an increase of 30.7 percent compared to the same period last year ($5.2 billion from January through July 2023).
Russia ranked second among the countries with the largest trade volume with Uzbekistan, accounting for 18.5 percent of Uzbekistan's total trade turnover.
