President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, who arrived in the country on an official visit, at Registan Square in Samarkand, TurkicWorld reports with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

Olaf Scholz was thoroughly acquainted with the historical facts of the construction of this pearl of oriental architecture, the features of architectural solutions and decor, significant events and personalities associated with this place, as well as the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people.
During the conversation it was noted that the city of Samarkand, rightly known as one of the ancient cradles of world civilization, is becoming an important international business and tourist center.
