TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 16. Uzbekistan Railways and Chinese CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive signed a contract on the modernization and renewal of the locomotive fleet of Uzbekistan, TurkicWorld reports.
According to Uzbekistan Railways, the Chinese company will modernize 12 electric locomotives of Uzbekistan series used on the railroads of Uzbekistan, as well as supply 38 freight and passenger electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, and shunting locomotives on installment terms until 2034.
This agreement will significantly improve the condition and efficiency of the locomotive fleet of Uzbekistan Railways, which, in turn, will contribute to the development of the country's railway industry and improve the quality of transportation.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's Minister of Transport Ilhom Mahkamov met with representatives of the delegation headed by the President of Chinese CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Company Wang Qiaolin.
The sides discussed the purchase and delivery of freight and passenger trains and spare parts to Uzbekistan.
Earlier, Uzbekistan Railways and a delegation of representatives from China's CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) discussed the modernization of electric locomotives and localization of production, which reflect the aim to improve efficiency and competitiveness in this area.
