Volker Treier: “Uzbekistan is a country worth investing in”

Uza. The German Economy Days continue in Tashkent.

Events dedicated to developing trade, investment, and industrial cooperation are taking place. The delegation led by Dr. Volker Treier, a Member of the Executive Board of the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, took part in a roundtable discussion to discuss bilateral cooperation and promising projects.

It was noted that Uzbekistan considers Germany a strategic partner within the European Union, and both sides are intensively working on further development of relations. Attention was also drawn to the need to increase the effectiveness of cooperation by promoting promising initiatives.

Over the past two years, German investments in Uzbekistan amounted to almost 2 billion euros. About a hundred joint projects worth more than $10 billion are being implemented with German partners.

– Uzbekistan is a country worth investing in, – says Volker Treier. – We plan to expand ties with Uzbekistan, located on a very advantageous territory from a geographical and geopolitical point of view, and make new investments in this country. Now we have more than 300 branches in the world. We contribute to the economic development of our partner countries. We want to implement many practical projects in partnership with Uzbekistan. Your country is rich in minerals. The light, mining, metallurgical, and energy industries are developing rapidly here. In the future, we will work together on processing mineral resources and training young personnel.

It was noted that over the past 6 years, the number of enterprises established in Uzbekistan with the participation of German capital has increased 3 times and amounted to 200. In just 6 months of this year, 17 joint ventures were launched.
