Tashkent hosts the International Stone Sculpture Symposium

Uza. Tashkent hosts the 2nd International Stone Sculpture Symposium, organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Union of Artists of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

The symposium’s theme is very relevant – “Man and nature, climate change, conservation of green areas, the revival of the Aral”. This symposium aims to create monumental sculptural works that will be installed in parks, entertainment places, and the city’s eco-tourism sites.

It is known that sculptural works are created to develop ecological culture and the careful attitude of the population toward environmental objects and monuments of historical and cultural heritage, and also serve to decorate the city and its architecture aesthetically.

Carrying out sculptural symposia is becoming a tradition and an essential cultural event in our country. This project is the second, and the first symposium was held in Samarkand in August 2022. It was attended by 7 foreign and 5 domestic sculptors.

Today, the geography of participants has expanded: 10 foreign and 11 Uzbek sculptors are participating in this project. Among the foreign participants are sculptors from Spain, Italy, Türkiye, Iran, India, the UK, Argentina, Russia, Georgia, and Belarus.

According to the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, as part of the symposium, master classes will be organized, where beginners and professional sculptors are invited, as well as viewers who can see the fascinating process of creating a stone statue.
