FAO plans to open permanent representative office in Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) Toily Komekov met with FAO Director General Qu Dongyu at its headquarters in Rome, TurkicWorld reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the project agreement on the opening of the FAO representative office in Turkmenistan.

Komekov praised the activities of FAO and expressed Turkmenistan's intention to develop effective cooperation aimed at using world practices in the field of sustainable agricultural development and improving measures to maintain food security.

In turn, the FAO Director General stressed the active role of Turkmenistan in international processes aimed at environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, as well as ensuring food security.

He added that the leadership of the organization is ready to support any initiatives of Turkmenistan within the framework of cooperation with FAO.

The partnership between Turkmenistan and FAO has grown steadily since the country joined the organization in 1995. Over the years, FAO's technical support has covered a wide range of areas in Turkmenistan.
