ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 25. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will reinforce energy cooperation, TurkicWorld reports via the International Information Center of Turkmenistan.
This issue was mentioned during discussion of key issues of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector at the meeting between Ministers of Energy of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Annageldi Saparov and Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov within the international conference and exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024" (OGT 2024) in Ashgabat.
The ministers also paid special attention to discussing joint projects aimed at expanding cooperation in natural gas supplies, developing renewable energy sources, and implementing innovative technologies.
The parties highlighted the significant potential for collaboration between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, both of which possess rich hydrocarbon resources, opening up opportunities for mutually beneficial initiatives.
During the meeting, they emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue to find new ways to enhance the efficiency and resilience of the energy systems of both countries.
The discussion covered not only traditional energy resources but also strategies for transitioning to greener energy sources, which is a priority for both nations.
This meeting marked an important step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, aimed at stable economic development and ensuring energy security in the Central Asian region.
To note, previously the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov said at a plenary session of OGT 2024 that the country plans to increase natural gas supplies to Uzbekistan.
