ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 30. Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and India Subrahmanyam Jaishankars discussed the importance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline in the context of regional development, TurkicWorld reports via Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry.
Information notes that the meeting was held against the backdrop of growing cooperation between the countries on the margins of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to the information, the TAPI project was discussed in the framework of energy cooperation and progress in the implementation of major infrastructure projects. The ministers exchanged views on the need to organize bilateral visits and the implementation of new joint projects.
The sides also discussed trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. Special attention was paid to the preparations for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Indian Commission, which is aimed at developing scientific and technological cooperation.
The upcoming meeting of foreign ministers in the format "Central Asia + India" was also touched upon.
