Marine Merchant Fleet of Turkmenistan boosts cargo transportation volumes

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 25. The closed Joint Stock Company (CJSC) of Turkmenistan’s Marine Merchant Fleet has transported more than 1.609 million tons of cargo from January through August 2024,TurkicWorld reports.

According to calculations based on the service's data, this reflects an increase of 6.64 percent compared to the same period in 2023 (1.509 million tons).

The company also noted that it handled 3,838 TEU container units, marking a rise of 27.7 percent compared to the same period last year, while the transportation of vehicles saw a slight decline of 1.52 percent with 12,170 cars.

The Maritime Merchant Fleet reported transporting 1.4 million tons of cargo from January to July 2024, along with 3,345 TEU container units and 10,546 vehicles.

CJSC "Marine Merchant Fleet" was established in 2015 after the transformation of the "Turkmen Marine Fleet Administration". The main shareholders of the company are the agency "Turkmendenizderyayollary" (70 percent of shares), Turkmenbashi International Sea Port (20 percent), the production association "Deryayollary" (9 percent), and CJSC "Altyn Asyr" (1 percent).

The fleet of CJSC includes 20 vessels designed for the transportation of oil and oil products, cargo, vehicles, passengers, and various types of dry cargo.
