DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 22. Tajikistan and Russia have discussed the operation of the Sangtuda hydroelectric power plant, TurkicWorld reports via Tajikistan's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
The discussion took place during a meeting between Tajik Energy and Water Resources Minister Daler Juma and Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev.
In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of industry standards.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the activities of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, as well as preparations for the next meeting to be held on October 4 this year in Dushanbe.
Sangtuda HPP-1 was built at the expense of Russia and Russian energy companies within the framework of strategic cooperation with Tajikistan in the field of electric power.
Sangtuda HPP-1, with a capacity of 670 MW, is the fifth stage of the Vakhsh cascade of hydropower plants and is one of the three largest HPPs in Tajikistan, along with the Nurek HPP (3000 MW) and the Baipazi HPP (600 MW).
The plant is located in the Danghara district of Khatlon province, 110 km south of the capital Dushanbe, and is part of the South Tajikistan Territorial Production Complex with centers in Kurgan-Tube and Danghara.
