ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 20. The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting Turkmenistan's sustainable development goals, the president of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Muhammad Al Jasser said during a visit to an exhibition of Turkmenistan's economic achievements in Ashgabat, TurkicWorld reports.
During the visit of the IDB delegation to Ashgabat, negotiations were held between the Bank's President Muhammad Al Jasser and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, as well as Rahymberdi Jepbarov, Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Turkmenistan.
The sides discussed cooperation in the spheres of healthcare, telecommunications, and infrastructure.
Special attention was paid to Turkmenistan's economic progress, its diversification, and harmonization of efforts with the national development plan for 2022-2052.
To note, Turkmenistan joined the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in November 1994.
The IsDB's Board of Executive Directors approved $369 million in June 2024 to finance new projects in member countries. As part of the financing, Turkmenistan received $156 million to build cancer centers and train medical staff. The project is designed to increase access to quality cancer services by increasing inpatient care by 33 percent and improving the quality of treatment for 11,750 patients annually.
