BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19.Representatives of leading music organizations from Turkic countries have established the Turkic Union of Composers (TUC) during the First Congress of Composers of the Turkic World held in Baku.
The historic decision was formalized on September 19, 2026, through the signing of the Baku Declaration, creating a foundation for long-term professional cooperation among composers, musicologists, performers, conservatories, music academies and creative unions across Turkic countries.
The establishment of the TUC became the main outcome of the Congress, held within the framework of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival.
For the first time, cooperation among composers of Turkic countries has gained a unified institutional structure and an international platform aimed at developing joint creative projects and promoting Turkic music worldwide.
“We seek to create a vibrant musical space in which the rich heritage of the Turkic peoples becomes a source of new works, professional cooperation and international cultural dialogue,” said Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
The TUC aims to unite the creative potential of the Turkic world, support contemporary composition schools, encourage the creation of new musical works and promote Turkic musical heritage on international stages.
The establishment of the union in Azerbaijan carries special significance, as the country has a rich musical tradition and has contributed renowned composers such as Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Gara Garayev and Fikrat Amirov to world culture.
