BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. On October 15, 2025, a presentation of Magtymguly Pyragy’s book "I am in Love," published by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, was held at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The event was part of an international academic conference - "The Role of Peace and Trust in Mahmud Kashgari's 'Divani Lugat at-Turk,'" organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, and the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
On behalf of the President of the Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, the Foundation’s Project Manager, Leyla Hasanova, delivered a speech.
She emphasized that “Magtymguly Pyragy, being a great classic of Turkmen literature, also embodies the spiritual unity and shared values of the Turkic world. The international celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy, included in UNESCO’s Anniversary Calendar for 2024–2025, is a vivid testimony to the deep respect for his legacy. Furthermore, the inclusion of the poet’s manuscripts in UNESCO’s ‘Memory of the World’ Register confirms the universal significance of his creative work.”
The presentation was also attended by Tohfa Talibova, Head of the “Scientific Publications” Department of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (online), Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan Gismet Gozalov, and Director General of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts, Dawud Orazsahedov.
In their speeches, they emphasized that the creative legacy of Magtymguly Pyragy has become not only a symbol of his era but also a spiritual and literary emblem of the entire Turkic world, glorifying such universal values as humanity, patriotism, justice, and a call for unity.
The event was attended by representatives of Turkmenistan’s cultural and scientific institutions, the faculty members and students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the media.
