BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 8. While the level of connectivity is constantly expanding, Azerbaijan and China have accomplished tremendous successes in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan Ding Tao said, TurkicWorld reports.
He made the remark during a conference on promoting logistics and trade in Azerbaijan - SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) demonstration zone in Baku today.
"The joint efforts of both sides have contributed to expanding the capacity of the southern China-EU correlation channel, increasing transportation efficiency, and improving the quality of services," the official explained.
Tao dropped a reminder that on July 3, the China-EU trans-sea express line from China through Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was officially up and running.
"This is the first time that Chinese vehicles arrive at coastal ports by direct road transport, then cross the sea on national ships, and finally reach Europe," he added.
To note, the BRI is a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in more than 150 countries and international organizations. The BRI is composed of six urban development land corridors linked by road, rail, energy, and digital infrastructure, and the Maritime Silk Road linked by the development of ports.
