Hikmet Hajiyev says Western media were falsely portrayed as “angels”

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. Foreign media portrayed Azerbaijan, in contrast to Armenia, as the aggressor in the early 1990s, and in parallel, a false impression was created that the Western media are "angels", Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during a special session of the Baku Platform for Cultural and Media Dialogue, themed "The language of peace and combating disinformation" on Monday, Trend’s correspondent reports from the event.

The Presidential assistant noted that the restoration of 65 destroyed cultural monuments is currently underway. He noted that this issue is linked to the primary focus of media coverage regarding the country, which is in a state of war.

Hajiyev also expressed his position regarding a report released by CNN. According to him, a CNN journalist is human, too, and is capable of writing disinformation, however, the information published by the outlet created the impression that, should an operation begin, Israeli forces would launch an intervention into Iran from Azerbaijan.

"This is illogical. There are several countries situated between Azerbaijan and Israel. It’s very easy to verify this via satellite," he added.
