BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic have signed a Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries.
According to a statement shared by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X, the document was signed on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), during a meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the Central African Republic’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Central Africans Abroad, Sylvie Baïpo-Temon.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic. The sides highlighted the strategic importance Azerbaijan attaches to strengthening ties with African countries and expanding cooperation in political, economic, cultural, educational and scientific fields.
The ministers also reviewed opportunities for cooperation within the United Nations, the African Union and other multilateral platforms.
The sides welcomed the participation of students from the Central African Republic in Azerbaijan’s educational scholarship programmes established for citizens of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement.
To formalise diplomatic relations between the two countries, Bayramov and Baïpo-Temon signed the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Central African Republic.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry described the document as opening a new chapter in relations between the two countries and creating a solid foundation for expanding bilateral ties in the coming years.
