BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdoulkader Houssein Omar in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers reviewed the current state of Azerbaijan-Djibouti relations and discussed prospects for further developing bilateral cooperation.
The two sides emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level contacts and political dialogue. Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in trade, the economy, education and humanitarian affairs, as well as making more effective use of existing opportunities between the two countries.
Bayramov and Omar also discussed coordination and mutual support within multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement.
The talks also covered Azerbaijan’s preparations to host the OIC Summit in 2027 and issues related to the country’s upcoming chairmanship of the organization.
The ministers exchanged views on the security situation in the Middle East, stressing the importance of reducing tensions and resolving existing challenges through peaceful means.
