Azerbaijan and US officials discuss peace process and TRIPP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 8. Azerbaijan and United States officials have discussed the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, progress in the peace process and the implementation of the TRIPP regional transport initiative.

On September 8, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov met with US Chargé d’Affaires in Armenia David Allen, who is visiting Azerbaijan. US Chargé d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon also attended the meeting.

The discussions focused on steps being taken to advance the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, establish long-term and sustainable peace, and strengthen stability and security in the region.

The sides also exchanged views on the results of Mammadov’s visit to the United States on the occasion of the anniversary of the Washington Peace Summit and the trilateral statement signed during that process.

Particular attention was given to efforts to implement the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), as well as the establishment of the TRIPP Development Corporation, which is expected to oversee the construction of infrastructure related to the route.

The officials also reviewed the Azerbaijan-US bilateral agenda and prospects for future cooperation in areas outlined in the Strategic Partnership Charter.
