BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 26. First Vice-President of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, accompanied by her daughters Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva, visited the K.Y. Farajova Pediatric Research Institute on August 26.
The information was published on the official website of the President of Azerbaijan.
Health Minister Teymur Musayev briefed First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva on the activities of the institute and the medical services provided there.
It was noted that the Pediatric Research Institute has been serving the important mission of protecting children’s health for more than a century.
Currently operating as a scientific and methodological centre, the medical institution was established in 1925 on the basis of a 200-bed children’s hospital. In 1927, it was reorganised as the Institute for the Protection of Mothers and Children.
Alongside treatment and preventive healthcare for children, the institute trains professional medical personnel in pediatrics, conducts scientific research and contributes to improving medical education.
The institute currently has clinical departments with a total capacity of 255 beds, as well as scientific and numerous paraclinical units.
Its 60-bed neonatal resuscitation and intensive care department serves as a specialised centre for newborns across Azerbaijan.
During the visit, Mehriban Aliyeva, Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva familiarised themselves with the conditions and facilities created at the institute.
Medical equipment, including artificial ventilation devices, was also donated to the institute to support the further improvement of its activities and treatment capabilities.
