BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13, Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, First Deputy Minister of Defense Colonel General Kərim Vəliyev has paid an official visit to the Republic of Belarus, where the prospects for developing defense cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, Kərim Vəliyev is visiting Belarus at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces.
A formal welcoming ceremony was held in Minsk with the participation of military delegations from both countries. In accordance with protocol, the chiefs of the General Staff inspected the guard of honor, while the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Belarus were performed.
Following the ceremony, Kərim Vəliyev held talks with Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defense Major General Pavel Muraveyko.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of Azerbaijan-Belarus defense cooperation, prospects for expanding bilateral military ties, and future areas of cooperation.
The officials also discussed regional security issues and other topics of mutual interest.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation visited the Victory Monument at Victory Square in Minsk and laid a wreath.
The delegation also visited the automated command and control systems department of the Military Academy of the Belarusian Armed Forces, where they reviewed the academy’s educational facilities, laboratories, and military training capabilities.
