BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9, Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov received a delegation led by Italy’s National Armaments Director at the Ministry of Defence, Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani, on July 9.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, the meeting focused on prospects for expanding defence cooperation between the two countries.
Hasanov praised the existing defence partnership based on strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, noting that bilateral relations hold special importance in the military sphere as well as in other areas.
Admiral Ottaviani expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, emphasizing the importance of mutual visits and experience-sharing between the two countries.
He said that military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy would contribute to strengthening the defence capabilities of both states.
The meeting, attended by Italy’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Luca Di Gianfrancesco, also included discussions on military, military-technical and military education cooperation, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
