BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. March 28 - the professional holiday of employees of Azerbaijan security agencies and the 107th anniversary of the establishment of these agencies was celebrated at the State Security Service (SSS), a source in the SSS told TurkicWorld.
In connection with this significant date, the Chief of the SSS, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, and the employees of the Service visited the grave of the honorary head of the Azerbaijani security agencies, National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors and deeply honored the dear memory of the great personality. The memory of the outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated, and flowers were laid on her grave.
Then, the SSS personnel visited the graves of the martyrs in the Alley of Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of Azerbaijan, and the employees of the security agencies who are National Heroes of Azerbaijan, and laid a wreath in front of the "Eternal Torch" monument.
At the event held in the assembly hall of the Service with the participation of employees and veterans of the SSS, after a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs and National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the National Anthem was played, Naghiyev spoke in detail about the history and process of the establishment of security agencies, the unparalleled and invaluable services rendered by the National Leader both during his time in leading positions in this institution and after independence, for the development of the security organization, the formation of Azerbaijan special service agencies under the leadership and direct support of our head of state Ilham Aliyev, that can adequately respond to modern challenges, and said that all forces and means will continue to be mobilized to ensure reliable security.
Emphasizing that the presence of military confrontations, complex geopolitical situations, and economic turmoil in many parts of the world seriously affects the operational conditions in the region, Naghiyev also spoke about the work carried out by the SSS in the past period to prevent intelligence-disruptive and terrorist-sabotage activities of foreign special service agencies and other forces directed against our country and the successful results achieved.
The chief of the SSS also provided extensive information on the criminal facts of treason, espionage, terrorism, preparation for terrorism, financing terrorism, creating a stable group for the purpose of participating in armed conflicts outside the borders of Azerbaijan, forcible seizure of power, forcible change of the constitutional structure of the state, assassinations of a state and public figures and other crimes that have been prevented in the past period as a result of operational-investigative measures carried out by the SSS.
Later, other speakers spoke about the historical path taken by these agencies, the decisive and courageous steps taken by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev towards the nationalization of special service agencies, the foundation of a school of professionalism in these bodies through the activities of the great leader in the security organization, and the fact that the employees of the SSS, who are the successors of this school, have built their activities in accordance with the requirements of modern times.
After the speeches, a ceremony was held to award the employees of the SSS who were awarded the highest military ranks and high state awards by the relevant Orders of the President of Azerbaijan.
The event ended with the screening of the documentary film "Halfway Across", a joint project of the SSS and the "AnewZ" television channel.
