BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel, have discussed bilateral cooperation and regional security issues during a phone call on April 1, TurkicWorld reports via the Azerbaijani MFA.
During the phone call, the ministers reviewed the current state of relations and prospects for further development, as well as regional and international security matters.
Rangel informed his counterpart of Portugal’s decision to upgrade its diplomatic representation in Azerbaijan and open an embassy in the country. In turn, the Azerbaijani minister expressed gratitude for the move.
The ministers underscored the importance of political consultations and mutual visits in advancing bilateral ties, while also exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, trade, transport, and tourism.
They also discussed cooperation within international organizations, emphasizing the importance of continued mutual support.
The sides expressed concern over the growing military escalation in the Middle East and stressed the need for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
