BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. Azerbaijan calls on France to implement the recommendations of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee, based on the obligations set forth under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aykhan Hajizada shared in a post on his X page, TurkicWorld reports.
"We commend the findings of the UN Human Rights Committee related to concerns on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by France, including in its overseas territories," the publication reads.
The UN Human Rights Committee released its findings today regarding Ecuador, France, Greece, Iceland, Pakistan, and Türkiye after reviewing these six countries at its latest session. The Committee expressed concern about the forced return of foreign nationals at the French-Italian border without access to proper asylum procedures, including information on their rights.
The Committee also raised concerns about the systematic eviction, sometimes using force, of migrants from shelters at the UK-France border on the island of Mayotte, a French overseas territory, along with the worsening living conditions faced by migrants.
