BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. The elections in Georgia and Uzbekistan were successfully conducted, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova said at a plenary session of the parliament, TurkicWorld reports.
Gafarova commented on the recent parliamentary elections in Georgia and Uzbekistan.
"Parliamentary delegates monitored the elections, resulting in the determination that the electoral processes in both nations were successful.
We commend the accomplishments of our friendly nations and assert that these elections will enhance the advancement of Georgia and Uzbekistan while also fortifying collaboration with Azerbaijan in pursuit of peace, stability, and sustainable development," she added.
To note, Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream party won the parliamentary election held on October 26, receiving more than 54 percent (1,118,796 votes) of the vote.
According to the Central Election Commission, results from 3,109 out of 3,111 polling stations have been processed, reflecting a turnout of 99.936 percent.
Coalition for Change (Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa) secured 11.03 percent (228,821 votes), of the votes, Unity – National Movement received 10.161 percent (210,787 votes), while Strong Georgia (Lelo, for People, for Liberty) garnered 8.814 percent (182,839 votes). The Gakharia for Georgia party received 7.771 percent (161,215 votes).
Polling stations had opened in Uzbekistan for election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the country and to local kengashes (councils) of people's deputies on October 27.
More than 15 million people participated in the election, with preliminary results indicating that the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan received 34.75 percent of the votes.
