BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Chief of the Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, TurkicWorld reports via the country’s MFA.
The meeting covered issues of regional cooperation as well as the prospects for further development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries.
"The meeting was noted with the satisfaction of high-level reciprocal visits between the leaders of the two countries, as well as meetings between foreign ministers, political consultation mechanisms, and regional cooperation platforms have contributed to the enhancement of our friendly and fraternal relations. The discussion emphasized the need to further develop collaboration in various areas, including politics, economics, trade, high technology, defense, and security.
The importance of mutual support within various multilateral frameworks, including several regional and international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was also highlighted.
The meeting underscored the significance of Pakistan’s election as a member of the UN Security Council for the upcoming term.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) would provide an additional opportunity for meetings between the leaders of the two countries, serving as a special occasion for cooperation.
The meeting also facilitated an exchange of views on various bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest," the ministry statement said.
