French arrest of Telegram CEO and African rights activist signals human rights breach - MFA

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16. Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram social network, and Kemi Seba, a champion of the rights of African peoples, were detained and arrested by French law enforcement agencies, which is a fundamental violation of human rights, and the persecution of individuals for their political beliefs and opinions is intolerable, Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizada said, TurkicWorld reports.

He stated this commenting on the arrest by France of the founder of the social network Telegram Pavel Durov and the fighter for the rights of the peoples of Africa, Kemi Seba.

Moreover, it was noted that the French side should conduct an appropriate investigation in an absolutely transparent and fair manner, and the international community should be duly informed.

"We believe that such politically motivated arrests in France should be investigated by the relevant bodies of the EU, the Council of Europe, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and an appropriate assessment should be made," Hajizada added.
