Scottish MP disrespects Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity - community

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. The Western Azerbaijan Community has condemned a document presented by MP Kenneth Gibson in the Scottish Parliament on September 20, TurkicWorld reports.

The statement of the Community in this regard reads that the use of the term "Artsakh" in the document, associated with ethnic cleansing and occupation, is disrespectful to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

"The document attempts to interpret the Karabakh Armenians' rejection of Azerbaijan's reintegration proposal and their voluntary departure from the country as coercion and makes other unfounded claims. The author of the document completely ignores the fate of millions of Azerbaijanis subjected to ethnic cleansing in Armenia and the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

Simultaneously, the document does not contain any information about the large-scale destructions committed by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, about the installation of 1.5 million mines here.

The document also omits to mention that Armenia is preventing the return of hundreds of thousands of exiled Azerbaijanis and is trying to portray their right to return in a negative light.

Information about Armenia's destruction of hundreds of mosques, countless cemeteries, and samples of Azerbaijani cultural heritage is not given.

All this demonstrates that this document is a continuation of the international campaign conducted by certain forces that do not recognize the fact that the conflict was resolved following international law and are trying to reignite it.

We strongly condemn such steps and demand from the members of the Scottish Parliament to stop this provocation," the statement reads.
