Azerbaijan, Kenya discuss bilateral cooperation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kenyan Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, TurkicWorld reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya, as well as issues of multilateral cooperation.

Jeyhun Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement, and thanked his Kenyan counterpart for supporting Azerbaijan's initiatives during its chairmanship of the NAM.

The meeting also discussed the prospects for developing relations between the two countries in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres. It was noted that the launch of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kenya is an important contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also touched upon the prospects for cooperation in combating climate change, speaking in detail about the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held this year in Azerbaijan, and the prospects for cooperation in this area.

The parties also discussed other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Then a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on holding political consultations between Azerbaijan and Kenya took place.
