BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with Portugal in developing alternative energy sources, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic Paulo Ranger within the framework of the 79th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, TurkicWorld reports.
During the meeting, the prospects for multilateral cooperation, as well as the current regional and international situation were discussed.
The importance of using the mechanism of political consultations to discuss the prospects for developing cooperation between our countries was emphasized.
It was noted that Azerbaijan successfully cooperates with a number of European countries on energy security issues, and the signing of the Memorandum on Strategic Partnership in the Field of Energy between Azerbaijan and the European Union is a manifestation of this. In this direction, it was stated that our country is ready for practical cooperation with a number of European countries, including Portugal, in developing alternative energy sources.
Confidence was expressed that our country's chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will make a significant contribution to the fight against climate change.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed Paulo Ranger in detail about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, large-scale reconstruction and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the progress in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
