The II Baku Security Forum on "Contemporary Challenges to the Security of Global Transport Networks" was held in September 2024 in Baku city with the organizational support of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan with the participation of representatives of special services of more than 50 countries, and the event became a favorable opportunity to strengthen cooperation between countries in the field of threats to international security and their prevention, the political analyst Azer Garayev told TurkicWorld
Garayev noted that strengthening international cooperation is an important condition for ensuring security in the modern world.
"The role of the Baku Forum as a joint discussion platform on international issues is extremely significant. Nowadays, there are many threats to the global world. In particular, conflicts and steps aimed at energy security have more serious consequences. Terrorist provocative acts aimed at energy security can lead to global economic and environmental disasters. These attempts can be prevented only by strengthening international ties and joint activities," he emphasized.
He also mentioned that within the framework of the forum, extensive discussions on this topic were held between representatives of special services of different countries.
"Following the results of the forum, the participants unanimously supported the initiative of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to establish the Secretariat of the Baku Security Forum in Baku, which will operate permanently. This forum will not only give Azerbaijan and Baku an important role at the global level in the field of international security but will also contribute to taking important steps in ensuring the security of global transportation networks.
As the process of redistribution of the world continues in modern times, ensuring global security comes to the forefront. In these complex conditions, it is important how the security of each country is organized. In recent years, the security system in Azerbaijan has been built at a very high level, and Azerbaijan has become a safe space not only in the region but also in the world. Law enforcement bodies, especially security bodies, are constantly working on this," the political scientist added.
