BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The regular meeting of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) was held under the chairmanship of Mazahir Panahov, TurkicWorld reports.
According to the information, the meeting considered the issue of summarizing the results of the extraordinary parliamentary elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan held on September 1, 2024, and submission of the CEC protocol on the results of the elections along with relevant documents to the Constitutional Court.
During the meeting, all members of the commission signed a protocol outlining the election results and the outcomes of the parliamentary elections.
Furthermore, following the requirement of the Electoral Code, it was decided that the CEC protocol together with relevant documents will be submitted to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan for approval of the election results and will be published.
To note, on September 1, extraordinary parliamentary elections were held in Azerbaijan.
A total of 112,749 domestic observers were registered to observe the elections. More than 65,000 of them are representatives of political parties. The number of registered international observers was 598, representing 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Out of 990 registered candidates in the parliamentary elections, 305 were representatives of 25 political parties. Although 371 candidates are members of political parties, they were not nominated by the parties to which they belong. A total of 676 candidates had political party affiliation.
