BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. Parliamentary elections were held in full compliance with the Azerbaijani Constitution and national legislation, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada wrote on X in response to the publication of the EU spokesman about the elections held, TurkicWorld reports.
"The subjective statement and biased political judgment of the European Union's spokesman for foreign policy and security affairs Peter Stano repeating the OSCE ODIHR's negative attitude to the elections in Azerbaijan is unreliable," the publication by Hajizada reads.
To note, a snap parliamentary election was held in Azerbaijan on September 1.
A total of 112,749 local observers were registered to monitor the elections. More than 65,000 of them were representatives of political parties. The number of registered international observers was 598, representing 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Out of 990 registered candidates for the parliamentary elections, 305 were representatives of 25 political parties.
Although 371 candidates were members of political parties, they were not nominated by the parties they belong to. A total of 676 candidates had political party affiliation.
