BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 25. The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Azerbaijan Kęstutis Vaškelevičius presented copies of his credentials to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev, TurkicWorld reports.
During the meeting, the sides discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan, as well as the security situation in the region.
The Ambassador emphasized that during his term, he will strive to strengthen the partnership between the two countries, as well as the political, economic, cultural, and other ties between Lithuania and Azerbaijan.
“I am pleased that this meeting confirmed the mutual desire to see increasingly stronger relations between our two freedom-loving nations. It is symbolic that this meeting took place on the eve of the anniversary of the Baltic Way. Azerbaijani residents living in Lithuania stood alongside us during the Baltic Way, and support for this unique freedom event of the Baltic States was also felt in Azerbaijan. Mutual support for each other's pursuit of freedom is a solid foundation for strengthening the friendship between our countries,” Ambassador Vaškelevičius remarked after the meeting.
