BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. Armenian-laid landmines continue to threaten the safety of Azerbaijani citizens, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement on social networks, TurkicWorld reports.
"Today, another mine explosion resulted in four casualties, including one employee of the State Border Service of the Azerbaijan Republic (SBS) and three employees of the demining agency.
Since the end of the 2020 war, the total number of mine victims has reached 376, with 69 fatalities.
The increasing number of mine victims highlights the urgent need for effective international measures to address this threat," MFA said in its publication.
To note, following the liberation of its lands, Azerbaijan began operations in November 2020 to clean its lands of mines, booby traps, and other weaponry left behind by illegal Armenian forces.
