Azerbaijan's presidential representative moots Baku-Yerevan normalization process in US

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1. Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on special assignments, Elchin Amirbayov, has discussed the Baku-Yerevan normalization process in the US, TurkicWorld reports via the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US, and Azerbaijan's Permanent Mission to the UN.

During a working visit to the US, Amirbayov held a series of meetings with senior representatives of the US government, during which cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US was also discussed.

According to the embassy, he met with Special Assistant to the US President, Senior Director for Europe at NSC (National Security Council), Michael Carpenter, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien, Principal DAS EUR (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasian Affairs), Yuri Kim, Director, Office of Central Asian Affairs, Brian Stimmler, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper, and Senator Pete Ricketts for Nebraska.

"Constructive and useful discussions were held covering the bilateral agenda, the current state of affairs in the peace process, and recent developments in the region," the embassy said.

Amirbayov also met with the representatives of prominent think tanks at the roundtable organized by the US Institute of Peace. Azerbaijan-US relations, the current status and prospects of the ongoing Azerbaijani-Armenian peace process, and regional and international security issues were discussed during the event.

According to Azerbaijan's Permanent Mission to the UN, within the framework of a working visit to New York, Amirbayov met with Dicarlo Rosemary, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, and discussed the current status and prospects of the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace process and recent developments in the region.
