Azerbaijani PM departs for Iran to attend President Pezeshkian's inauguration

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has departed for Tehran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, TurkicWorld reports via the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.

The inauguration of the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, will take place today. The ceremony will be held at the Islamic Consultative Assembly at 16:00 (GMT+4).

More than 70 foreign representatives and 600 local and international journalists are expected to attend the inauguration.

In the second round of the extraordinary presidential election in Iran, held on July 5, the representative of the reformist camp, Masoud Pezeshkian, won with almost 16.4 million votes. His rival, Saeed Jalili of the conservative camp, received 13.5 million votes.

To note, on May 19, a helicopter carrying former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Tabriz Province Imam Ayatollah Ali Hashim, and East Azerbaijan Province Governor-General Malek Rahmati crashed while flying from Khudafarin to Tabriz, and the Iranian President and the entire accompanying delegation were confirmed dead.
