Azerbaijan awaiting Armenia's provision of accurate data on mines - official

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. Azerbaijan is awaiting Armenia's provision of accurate data on mines, the representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov told reporters, TurkicWorld reports.

According to him, realizing its responsibility in connection with the mine problem, Azerbaijan has paid 95 percent of all demining works at the expense of its state budget.

"This demonstrates that we are not waiting for help from other countries at all and are doing our own thing. At the same time, it is a very important moment for the international community to pay due attention to this issue. Our expectation is that Armenia should provide accurate data as per our requirements. This can also be seen as a fundamental measure of trust between the two sides," he said.

Elchin Amirbayov mentioned that the information provided by the Armenian side about the mines is of very subpar and low level.

"Nevertheless, the main goal of the conference is to draw international attention to the mine problem in Azerbaijan. As you see, more than 300 international experts are taking part in the conference. This is an important measure in terms of popularizing the issue and attracting the attention of the international community to the mine problem in Azerbaijan," he added.
