Azerbaijan detains another Karabakh separatist

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 3. Former so-called "chairman of the parliament" of Karabakh separatists David Ishkhanyan has been detained by the Azerbaijani authorities, TurkicWorld reports.

Dossier on David Ishkhanyan:

Born on December 28, 1968, in the village of Kheshan, Khojavend region, in 1992 he graduated from the Faculty of History and Law of the Pedagogical Institute in Khankendi.

He was the director of the Kheshan rural school and the head of the rural community.

He actively participated in the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, in 1992-1995 he commanded one of the battalions.

He is a a member of the Dashnaktsutyun party since 1989. In 2007-2021, he held the “post” of representative of the party’s central committee in Karabakh. Member of the party bureau since 2022.

“Elected” as a so-called “member of parliament” for the separatists in 1991, 2015 and 2020. On August 7, 2023, he received a mandate for the position of “chairman”.

The State Security Service of Azerbaijan also detained the former leaders of the separatists in Karabakh, Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan, for their criminal acts.
