BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. Head of the working group of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan on inter-parliamentary relations with France Soltan Mammadov has sent letters to the Chairman of the Senate of France Gérard Larcher and Head of the French-Caucasian friendship group of the Senate of France Alain Super, Trend reports.
Mammadov noted that the information about the meeting of the Chairman of the Senate with the Chairman of the Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan, which Larcher shared on his Twitter account, was met by the Azerbaijani public with surprise and serious dissatisfaction.
He noted that Gérard Larcher's demand for the "urgent opening of the Lachin road" connecting the Karabakh region, which is an integral part of Azerbaijan, with Armenia, as well as France's call to supply defensive weapons to Armenia in order to "ensure Armenia's security", were perceived as an attempt to aggravate the situation in the region again.
