Azerbaijan detains several members of Iranian drug network

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Four people who were part of a network of Iranian drug dealers named "Rza" and "Milad" were detained in the Narimanov district of Baku, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan told TurkicWorld.

According to the press service, the district's police officers carried out regular operations to prevent illegal drug trafficking. During these operations, a previously convicted resident of Baku Elmar Mamishov was detained, with five kilograms of drugs.

During another operation, members of the gang that organized the sale of drugs in Baku - Niyazi Guliyev, Nazim Novruzov and Ziya Zakirov - were detained. In total, two kilograms of drugs were found in their possession.

The detainees said that they purchased drugs through social networks from Iranian citizens named "Rza" and "Milad" with the aim of further sale.

Criminal cases have been opened against the detainees by the investigative department of the Narimanov District Police Office, and the investigation of these cases is ongoing.

Previously, in April this year, the officers of Nasimi Police Department in Baku, as well as territorial and police departments conducted an operation against locals, who got involved in drug trafficking.

Among the five detained drug dealers were Huseyn Osmanov, Eldeniz Guliyev, Elyanar Ibragimov, Hayala Abbasova and Elmir Mammadov, who got drugs for sale online, from an Iranian citizen named "Mobil".
