BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has accused the Trump administration of “projection”, arguing that US accusations against Tehran reflect actions that Washington itself has carried out, initiated or supported.
In a post on X, Baqaei criticized the White House’s list of allegations against Iran, describing it as a “flight from reality”.
He referenced a Bible verse in his statement, writing: “The wicked flee when no one is pursuing” (Proverbs 28:1).
Baqaei’s remarks came in response to accusations from the US administration against Iran, although he did not specify each allegation mentioned by Washington.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the accusations represented an attempt to shift responsibility and portray Iran as responsible for actions that Tehran attributes to the United States.
The statement reflects continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides exchanging accusations over regional security, military activities and foreign policy.
