BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul have discussed ways to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and reduce regional tensions.
According to Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers also exchanged views on measures aimed at reducing escalation and strengthening regional security.
The discussions focused on efforts to maintain safe maritime movement through the strategic waterway, which is a major route for global energy and commercial shipping.
Oman has played a key mediating role in efforts to restore commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, including discussions with Iran on establishing temporary shipping routes.
The talks come as restrictions affecting navigation through the waterway continue amid wider regional tensions, including Iranian measures around the strait and a US naval blockade of Iran.
Muscat has repeatedly emphasized the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation and avoiding further escalation in the Gulf region.
The latest discussions between Oman and Germany highlight international efforts to address maritime security concerns and support the continuation of commercial shipping through one of the world’s most important energy corridors.
