BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. To ensure the convenience of city residents and drivers during the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, a number of key roads will remain open to traffic at designated times.
In addition, a new transit corridor will be established from the intersection of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets towards Bulbul Avenue.
Traffic restrictions will also be introduced in certain areas in connection with the race.
The initial restriction will come into effect from 21:00 on 19 September. It will apply to the section of Pushkin Street between its intersections with Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Neftchilar Avenue. The restriction will remain in place until the end of the event.
According to the Traffic Management Plan, the streets along the Baku City Circuit and the areas covered by the track will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on 20 September until 08:00 on 28 September. Access to and exit from the restricted zones will only be possible with a “Residential Access Permit”.
At the same time, based on the experience of the past three years, some key roads will remain open to traffic at designated times during the race to ensure the convenience of city residents and drivers.
Accordingly, on 21 and 22 September, the entry and exit points listed below will remain open to traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 18:00 to 20:00 in the evening, with no stopping or parking permitted.
On 23 September, the listed roads will be open to traffic from 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 20:00 to 22:00 in the evening.
Entry Points:
- From Salyan Highway towards Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Circle;
- From M. Lermontov Street towards the 50th Anniversary of the UN Street and Istiglaliyyat Street;
- From S. Vurgun Street towards U. Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue;
- From Bulbul Avenue towards Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue;
- From the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin streets towards Khagani Street;
- From the intersection of U. Hajibeyli and Pushkin streets towards Bulbul Avenue.
Exit Points:
- From Neftchilar Avenue towards Baku Sea Port, Port Baku Mall and Crescent Mall;
- From Istiglaliyyat Street towards Azerbaijan Avenue;
- From Neftchilar Avenue towards Azneft Circle, Deniz Mall and Salyan Highway.
During the specified periods, traffic will be facilitated through the designated transit corridors, with the exception of public transport and heavy-duty freight vehicles.
While the transit corridors are open, parking and the boarding and alighting of passengers will not be permitted, except in emergency situations. The speed limit on the transit corridors will be 50 km/h.
Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix this year will take place on 24–26 September.
