The 2nd International Symposium of Restorers Historian-Architects of the Turkic World Held in Turkistan with the support of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Akimat of Turkistan Region

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10.​ On June 10–11, 2025, the city of Turkistan (Kazakhstan) hosted the 2nd International Symposium of Restorers Historian-Architects of the Turkic World, under the theme "Monuments of the Turkic Civilization: Methods of Research, Preservation and Restoration". The event was organized with the support of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and the Akimat of Turkistan Region, TurkicWorld reports.

The symposium focused on the study, conservation, and restoration of architectural monuments of Turkic civilization. Its primary goal was to provide a professional platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience among architects, restorers, scholars, and experts from Turkic countries.

The opening ceremony featured welcoming speeches by President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, Deputy Akim of Turkistan Region Mr. Yertay Altayev, Heritage Expert at ICESCO Mr. Osama Elnahas, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as international experts.

During the plenary session, reports were presented by representatives of scientific institutions from Turkic countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the application of modern technologies in the study of architectural heritage, restoration methods, the use of traditional building materials, and the impact of climate factors on the preservation of monuments.

The symposium continued with panel sessions covering two key themes: "Historical and cultural significance and research of monuments of Turkic civilization" and "Preservation and restoration of architectural monuments". Participants discussed topics such as the historical and cultural value of monuments, the role of digital tools in restoration practices, preventive conservation techniques, and interdisciplinary approaches to heritage preservation. Experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Hungary shared their insights and experience.

One of the highlights of the event was the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the great encyclopedic work "Divan-i Lugat at-Turk" by Mahmud al-Kashgari, along with the musical performance "Мың заман – бір Түркістан" at the Cultural Center of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University.

As part of the program, participants also visited the Otyrar district, where they explored the Mausoleums of ArystanBab and Khoja Akhmet Yassawi, offering them a firsthand experience of the architectural legacy of the Turkic world.

The symposium made a meaningful contribution to the advancement of scientific and practical cooperation in preserving and promoting the shared heritage of the Turkic world.
