BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Angeliki Kalligiannaki as its new head of operations in Greece, TurkicWorld reports.
Kalligiannaki, currently serving as Associate Director and Senior Banker in the Manufacturing and Services team at the EBRD, will begin her new role on September 1. She succeeds Andreea Moraru, who was recently named the Bank’s Regional Director for Poland and the Baltic States.
"I am honored to take on this role and lead the EBRD’s efforts to support sustainable economic growth in Greece. Our focus will be on maximizing our impact by building on the strong relationships we’ve established with Greek authorities, corporations, and financial institutions. Together with the talented team in Athens, we are committed to ensuring that the Bank remains a trusted partner in supporting Greece’s long-term economic development," she said, following her appointment.
The EBRD began operations in Greece on a temporary basis in 2015 to help the country recover economically. Since then, the Bank has invested over 7.8 billion euros in 114 projects across the corporate, financial, energy, and infrastructure sectors of the Greek economy.
Notable achievements include work in non-performing loan resolution, securitizations, and bond investments; key property projects like The Ellinikon and Piraeus Tower; Greece’s largest renewable energy project in Kozani; and financing for organizations such as Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation, Public Power Corporation of Greece, and Viva Wallet.
