Baku. TurkicWorld:
Since the crack of dawn this year, the volume of container transportation from China along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) has skyrocketed 14 times compared to the figures of the same period last year, TurkicWorld reports.
The report pointed out that efforts are being made to hit the ground running on the development of this game-changing transport corridor that will link China and Europe/Türkiye via the Caspian Sea. The aim is to ramp up transportation volumes and enhance the efficiency and swiftness of cargo delivery.
“To date, delivery times from Altynkol station to Absheron (Baku) have been reduced to 9 days, to 12 days to Poti/Batumi (Georgia), and to 20–22 days via Poti/Batumi to Constanta (Romania),” the press release emphasizes.
The Joint Venture “Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd.” established by Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) with the railroad administrations of Azerbaijan and Georgia will allow to strengthen the work on the development of multimodal service on the route with the provision of services on the principle of “one window” and guaranteed time and cost of delivery.
"Also, KTZ, with the involvement of major international logistics companies, is actively developing ports and port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea," the information noted.
To note, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, connects China and European countries via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea water area, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye. TİTR has been in operation for 10 years but has been actively developing for the last two years. In 2023, 2.7 million tons of cargo passed through it (86 percent more than in 2022); in 2024, the volume may exceed 4.2 million tons.
