WNG nominated for UNESCO’s List of Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Bishkek, Dec. 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . UNESCO Committee will consider the issue of including the World Nomad Games: Heritage Revival, Celebration of Cultural Diversity (WNG) in the List of UNESCO of Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Kabar reported citing the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture.

The issue will be considered within the framework of the 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the online format, held from 13 to 18 December 2021 at the UNESCO headquarters (Paris, France).

The World Nomad Games: Heritage Revival, Celebration of Cultural Diversity is the first nomination presented by the Kyrgyz Republic in this list, the report said.

In total 59 nominations from all countries of the world will be considered this year at the meeting of the Committee for inclusion in the UNESCO Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The inclusion of nominations in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists is intended to contribute to a greater popularization of the intangible cultural heritage at the international level.

Currently, the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists include 601 elements of intangible cultural heritage from around the world, including the Epic Trilogy: Manas. Semetey. Seytek, Traditional craftsmanship for making a male headdress of the Kyrgyz Ak-kalpak from Kyrgyzstan and others.
